Formby Cricket Club is delighted to announce the introduction of Dynamos Cricket for Girls, marking another exciting step forward in the continued growth of the club’s women’s section.

Over the past few years, the women’s section at Formby has gone from strength to strength, achieving remarkable success both on and off the pitch. For two consecutive seasons, the women’s softball team has won the league title, alongside lifting the softball plate competition last year.

Building on this success, the section expanded to include a women’s hardball team, which achieved promotion to Division One in its very first season. The momentum continues into this year with the addition of a new Women’s T20 team, further strengthening the club’s female pathway.

Caz Favager, Chair of Formby Women’s Section, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted with the progress and success of the women’s section over the past few years. To see how far we’ve come in such a short space of time is something we’re incredibly proud of.

The introduction of Dynamos for girls comes at the perfect time for us. Our senior players now have more experience and knowledge of the game, and we’re in a great position to inspire the next generation.”

The Dynamos programme, supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board, is designed to provide young girls with a fun, engaging introduction to cricket in a safe and inclusive environment.

By running Dynamos sessions alongside senior women’s training, the club aims to create a visible and inspiring pathway for young players.

Caz added:
“Having Dynamos on the same evening as our senior training allows our players to be visible role models. It gives young girls the chance to see the team spirit, enjoyment, and success that can come from being part of the club.

It also creates a really special opportunity for mums and daughters to share time together through a great sport, strengthening both confidence and connection.

We want to create a clear pathway into senior cricket and continue to grow the women’s game locally.”

Caz also extended her thanks to Ben Chapman, Junior Chair, for organising the programme, as well as to all the volunteers across the club who continue to give their time and support to help the section grow.
